Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright. He is known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture and as a revolutionary artist, one of the best known figures in 20th century art. Here is a vintage 11” x14.5” bookplate of Picasso’s 1906 portrait of American expatriate and author Gertrude Stein. For Picasso, Stein’s early patronage and friendship was critical to his success. He painted this portrait of her between 1905 and 1906 at the end of his so-called "Rose Period.”
Picasso has signed and dated the print 16.2.69. A great piece of history.
