Musician, songwriter, singer and founding pioneer of the
"Outlaw Movement”. He was officially recognized as a great performer by Buddy Holly who, in 1958, arranged Jennings’ first recording session and hired him to play bass. It is one of those great mysterious coincidences that Jennings gallantly gave up his seat on the airplane in 1959 to Richie Valens, since Valens was sick and the plane was quicker than the trip by car. That was on “The Day the Music Died”.
