(born 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and head coach. He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League. Nicknamed "the Great One”, as well as the greatest hockey player by sports writers, players, the NHL, and by The Hockey News, general managers and coaches. Gretzky is the leading goal scorer, assist producer and point scorer in NHL history with more assists than any other player. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season, a feat he accomplished four times. He tallied over 100 points in 16 seasons, 14 consecutive.
